Poor Advertising Typography

When I first glance upon this advertisement, I didn't know what to look for. The whole thing is a gigantic mish-mash of random fonts and tilted letters all through a wacky color scheme of purple and yellow. That's the main problem with this advertisement- the tyopgraphy is too random and cluttered, making it very difficult for a potential consumer to grasp the concept of the advertisement beyond "WTF." I understand that's the reaction, Sony was going for (this is in fact an old PlayStation 2 ad), but who is going to connect the wackiness to the Sony product? The message from the typography is absolutely meaningless and has no structure at all. It's just a bunch of smashed-together buzz words, somehow trying to make a reader conditioned to connect the words "bloody" and "broke up" to the PlayStation 2 game console. Overall, the messiness of the advertisement is overdone to the point that the message is completely lost amdist the random wall of text.
