Grids

The Tiffany&Co. website demonstrates two of the of the 6 grid based design strategies. The first strategy is about joining for variety. It suggests that that when using grids you should use a mixture of horizontal and vertical grids. Majority of the grids are horizontal but there are vertical grids Incorporated on the page that are not obviously sectioned off. It adds interesting layouts an breaks up the space. The information and drop down menu as are vertical grids to add variety. The second principle that the website incorporates is the illustrating areas strategy. The idea suggest that a design is incorporated adds something stimulating to a boxy design. The ribbon on the website breaks up the space but it does not cross over the grid lines. It is maintained with the grids but still crosses over to others, adding a interesting design. The Tiffany&Co. website is great example of using grids usefully.
