Wrap Up Post

Truth be told I was not excited when I found out I had to take this class and there were many times throughout the semester that I was less than thrilled with it. However I will say that this class has done an excellent job at forcing me to become knowledgeable and experienced in the Adobe design programs with which I had little to no previous experience. I now feel confident enough using the inDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop programs to execute basic designs.

This class has also opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of type. Before this class, when I looked at a poster or advertisement or anything using type for that I matter I had no regard for things such as visual hierarchy and visual-verbal communication, and when I chose a type I never considered things like readability or x-height. Now I am constantly noticing and critiquing the use of the Gestalt principles as well as keeping an eye out for new and exciting designs that take risks.

As much stress and as many freak-outs as this class has caused me overall I do not regret taking it. By being inundated with assignments, I have been fully immersed in the basic principles of design and basic functions of the Adobe programs.
