Grid Post

One of the techniques mentioned in the article was called "Energizing Space." This technique involves asymmetrical use of grids, shapes, and design. This imbalance, in the end, actually creates an equal weight among the page. The website I chose to do was a band website. Yellowcard's website uses this technique in order to create an edginess. Even though this technique has allowed for an edge, there is a still a consistent weight among the site, and the readability keeps the website organized. The asymmetry is achieved by have different sized boxes on the left and right side. The text doesn't line up exactly, which creates a more interesting site. Yellowcard was able to go out of the box and create a site that isn't boring, but is still clear to the reader. Along with the technique, the cool colors used enforce the "coolness" of the band. Overall, the site succeeds in creating a space that is user friendly, all while being faithful to the band's personality.
