ESPN.com knows how to appeal to every kind of audience. For the fan that simply wants updates on sports scores, they can look right at the top of the screen. They can also click to a sport of their choice. Off to the left of the screen are the highlights of the day, and below are various pools and columns.
Where the website really shines though is its customizability. By creating a free account, one can pick the sports and teams that they are interested in and when they click to the website those scores will appear first, and to the left there will be article focused on what the reader is interested in.
The site is set up in order of importance. At the very top (first to load) is the scores, where the casual fan get get their info. Next to load, below, is the news of the day, where someone more interested can spend some time. Finally, the bottom of the home page contains the columns and polls for the true devoted fans.
