Hannah Doolin: Grid Post

I was very drawn to this webpage because of the interesting use of grids and columns. The page has a large amount of white space, and especially with the use of only black and white, it could have easily appeared to be boring and plain. The unconventional way in which the grids are used, however, makes the page very visually interesting. The page is very structured and the information is separated in an organized fashion, leading the reader's eye from the artist's name, to the information on the side, and then to the picture (a good example of gestalt). By doing something as simple as slanting the information and graphics on the page, a visually appealing aspect is added immediately. The extra tilt of the letter "L" in "BEN KWELLER" is dissonant to our eye, but makes the title of the page stand out even more. I really liked how the page was so simple, yet appeared to be complex by simply slanting the columns and blocks of information on the page. It intrigues us, but is not overwhelming.
