Week Ten- Grids

The website The Horizontal Way (www.thehorizontalway.com), which is actually a blog showcasing websites that use horizontal scrolling, is a perfect example of the second creative column technique in the Grid-Based Design article. The second technique, Joining for Variety, discusses how horizontal web layouts are being used more often because they are very creative and visually striking.

The Horizontal Way website has no vertical scroll whatsoever. Rather it separates the blog postings into a row of squares with the blog headline, the sun iconography and arrow leading the eye across the page. Overall I thought this website design was very creative and played very well off the visual-verbal concept of the blog.
