Week 10 | Grids

The technique that spoke about illustrations was very interesting.  It's a great way to differentiate a spread from a basic grid pattern.  They make spreads appear more creative and diverse, breaking from the very strict grid structure on the rest of the page.  The Jason Mraz website shown here is a great example of this. While it was clear that a grid structure was used to design the website, it is also very apparent that the designer took the time to make the website break out of the rigid boundaries created by boxes. Some of the boxes weren't aligned in a straight line, and there were also illustrations added to give the page a more fun feel. The picture of Jason, as well as the sun and clouds and the sign are all aspects of the website that separate it from being perfectly in line with a grid. However, the site is still easy to navigate, and the content does not become confusing with the addition of illustrations.  The illustrations simply make the page more appealing to the readers eye.
