Claire Bourque: Color Allure
I was first drawn to this movie advertisement because of the color use. The background, which is also the visual, is a photograph put into all different shades of purple. Purple is a color that draws people in because it is a bold choice. It is not commonly used on such a large scale. Also, purple is not usually considered a warm color, but it seems to take on more of a warm violet shade here. This mono-color choice instantly makes this a simple yet alluring poster. Only one color is needed for that picture to say everything that's there. Without the distraction of the color, it allows the emotion within the photograph to come out. It is contrasted perfectly with a warm gold and white with all of the type. Grouping with proximity was done well here. The awards/nominations are place all together at the top in the warm gold, so that you are drawn in, but not distracted. From there you move to the next group, which is the tag line for the movie. After that, the actors of the movie are listed together, but it also ties to the director down below. I especially love the way the letters are positioned in the movie title to portray the shape and color of a cloud. This is a very alluring and gestalt-full advertisement.

From that angle, the male actor looks frighteningly similar to John McCain!
