The non-profit organization I chose to do was the Red Cross. I volunteer at the Red Cross, and I feel the organization is one of the best in the nation. The main focus for my client was to bring people to this battle of the bands event. My client wanted the event to be perceived as something fun and enthusiastic. To do this, I needed to incorporate music notes. The microphone (mouth of the face) was my main focus, because when I first thought of a microphone I thought of the head being used as the mouth of the face. From there, I added the music note eyes and the f clefs for the ears. The base of the microphone is out to the side, because that is how most people hold microphones. I wanted to bring the symbol of the Red Cross into my poster as well, so I made the “t’s” of the headline red, and I added the red border. I used Mistral for the font, because I thought the sense of flow incorporated well with the words of the headline. I used “Let the music take you over” as the headline, because music has a way of taking people to another place. The picture reinforces the headline, because the face has turned into a musical creation. The arrangement of text is positioned this way, because the eye ends up where all the information for the event is located.
